We’re delighted to announce that our project The Knowe Garden Centre has been shortlisted for a prestigious award from Groundwork Community Awards which is sponsored by a number of well-known businesses including Tesco. The charity works together to transform lives in disadvantaged communities across the UK and ‘The Knowe’ is one of only 3 finalists in the Community Garden or Green Space category – chosen from among 750 applicants and covering ten categories. In addition the project could be in with a chance of winning the ‘People’s Choice Award’ which is voted for by the public and this is where they need your help.
Garden Centre Manager Kaye Hannah explains:
ACDI are absolutely thrilled to be nominated as a Groundwork Community Awards finalist. To be recognised by an independent external organisation provided great satisfaction to our organisation, staff, and most of all the community we serve. What we have achieved over the last two years has meant a lot of hard work and we are grateful to our partners including the Coal Industry Regeneration Trust and our local Tesco store who provided finance and support.
We would love to win the People’s Choice Award and we would like to invite the residents of Auchinleck and surrounding area to vote for us. They can do this by going online to https://groundworkawards.org.uk/auchinleck-community-development-initiative/ and clicking through to the survey where they can select us.
Kaye and Horticultural Trainer, Meg Sharp, Will be at the award ceremony on 21st November so get those votes in!
